SamLaughlin - Frameworks

Photographer Sam Laughlin has trekked across Spain, Italy and the UK in search of the ‘ruins of modernity’.

Fragmented grids of incomplete buildings stand silently in the night.

Frameworks – inspired by Giovanni Battista Piranesi’s studies of Greek ruins at Paestrum – documents unfinished structures, bi-products of economic decline.

This typology of construction elucidates the transitional nature of architecture – their skeletal appearance is reminiscent of Greco-Roman ruins.

Sam Laughlin is listening to:

the self-titled debut by 2:54, that and The Pixies.

Sam Laughlin is influenced by:

At the moment Gordon Matta-Clark and Bas Princen
