Architectural abstractions, gender and political musings all feature in this year’s FreshFaced + WildEyed.
The Photographer’s Gallery competition is in its sixth year of celebrating new talent in the UK. Twenty-two emerging visual artists have been shortlisted – six will be offered a yearlong mentorship at the gallery.
The exhibition bears no overt theme – yet this amalgamation of images manages to produce a coherent thread.
A select panel were given limited information about the graduates – an artist statement and images alone were judged.
The variety of styles, content and approaches on display make it difficult to discuss the show as a whole, yet the exhibition unites these aesthetically diverse pictures – each image articulating its purpose beautifully.
The show is a snapshot of UK graduates, visual culture and creative potency.
